H.P. would soon have its own water policy
Kaul Singh Thakur, Irrigation and Public Health Minister said that water was a basic human need and it must be managed in the most optimal manner so that consumption and development needs are met.
Presiding over the meeting of State Water Policy here today, Thakur said that keeping in view the emerging challenges and a number of issues in the development and management of the water resources, it was imperative to formulate a State Water Policy for Himachal Pradesh backed with an action plan for implementation in a time-bound manner.
Thakur said that it would be envisaged under the State Water Policy that available water resources were utilized in an efficient manner to meet drinking water needs that would also promoted its conservation and engenders community participation.
