The most important place of tourist in Sirmour district is the most secred and beautiful lake  of Renuka is 45 km from Nahan.Its shape is like  a sleeping woman. According to legend  Rishi (Sage) Jamdagni  got displeased with his wife Renuka and ordered his son Parshuram to cut off his mother’s head.The obedient son did so. The Rishi  thus pleased and told his son to ask for a boon. Parshuram asked immediately  for his mother’s life. The Rishi  fulfilled  the desire of  his son  thereby ensuring her immortality.  In November  a week long fair held  which celebrate  the immortality  of Renuka and her son. There are temples dedicated to Renuka and Parsuram. The people  throng here to sing and chant  the praises of two immortals  they worship at the temples and purify themselves in the holy  lake of Renuka. The age old ceremony  takes place as the devotees exchange caps and turbans or even a cup of handful  water  to become brother and sisters in the name of deity. Around  the lake there is a Wild Life Park. The Renuka wild life sanctuary  is situated at 42 km approchable by road. The lake has swimming  and boating facilities . There are trekking route to hurdhar Peak (3647 meters) from here. From its top  on can have the fine view of gigantic plains and Satluj river as well as Badrinath in Gharwal region and Shimla  hills.
