Buddhism was founded in India by Gautam Buddha in about 500 B.C. It is based on the laws of Nirvana (Enlightenment) and Karma (Reincarnation). Although Buddhism has no god but Buddha is worshipped by his followers. The teachings of Buddha were incorporated into books known as sutras by his early disciples. Buddhism was the principal faith of India at one time. It spread to Tibet, China, Japan, South East Asia and other countries from India.
