An earthquake of low intensity, measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale, shook several areas of Himachal Pradesh today.

No loss of life was reported from anywhere in the state due to the tremor, that lasted for about 20 seconds at 0804 hrs.

An official of the Kangra Seismological Department described these as aftershocks to the October 8 quake that killed more than 41,000 people and left over a million homeless in Pakistan.
